Passengers eager to get off the ship and onto a tour bus.
We are near the northern tip of Europe. But swimming is still comfortable (for some poeple) on this beach. The water temperature - even in the open water - is around 60 degrees F (16 C).
The reindeer lose the antlers each year in the early winter. Pregnant females retain their antlers so as to protect themselves, then shed them in the spring.
 
 
 
 
 
Large herds of reindeer (about 5000 each herd) roam the area in the summer. They are tended by the Sami people.
 
This monument marks the top of mainland Europe. It is about 1300 miles from here to the North Pole.
A children's project enabled the placement of a statue and seven of the circular stones with plaques as seen next.
