On Avery Island - near the Gulf of Mexico - we visited the Tabasco Factory. |

After the red peppers are picked
(mostly from South America), they are placed in barrels that come mostly
from the Jack Daniels Distillery after 3 years of making sour mash whiskey. The peppers are mixed with salt and vinegar and stay in these barrels for 13 months. |
