 Hiroshima

We took the train from Miyajima to Hiroshima (about 45 minutes).

The "Atomic Bomb Dome" building left as it was after the bomb in 1945.

The mother of this man was 5 months pregnant with him when the bomb hit.

She, and he, survived.

He is now a guide at the Peace Park. He took a small group of us from the Atom Bomb Dome to the "hypocenter" - or ground zero.

"Let all souls here rest in peace,

For we shall never repeat the evil"

An eternal flame (shown below) stands on top of the structure near the center of this photo.

Several before a after models. These are located in the museum.

Replica of the single atomic bomb - displayed in the museum.

The tram to take us back to the station.

Several photos from track side as we wait for the Shinkansen to take us back to Tokyo

The trip on this Shinkansen Rail Star train takes 4 hours and 20 minutes to go 536 miles back to Tokyo - an average speed of 122 mph and a top speed of 166 mph.
