Browns Mills NJ Flood
April 16, 2007

On April 15 a large and powerful Nor'easter formed off the coast of New Jersey.

The house is located near the shore of a small lake in Browns Mills. Then the water started to rise. Fortunately, this  storm (5.5 inches of rain) and the subsequent flooding was far less severe than the flood of July, 2004 (8 to 13 inches), but it was still a significant threat to the local residents.

I have shown the photos at high water on April 16 and the normal water level the next morning on April 17.

More high water photos from April 16:

High water mark.

The carpets in the house are approximately at the level of the bottom of the lower horizontal back of the benches (only 6 inches higher water and the damage would have been significant).

The snow at the end of the storm was a nice touch.

The picnic will be nice in June!!
