National Day Fireworks
October 1 is the National Day (sort of the Chinese 4th of July) with lots of parties and fireworks in the Harbor. We found a spot to watch on the corner by the Art Museum near the harbor. The crowd size reminded us of Times Square in New York on New Year's Eve (except it was about 90 degrees F). I found that OOOOOH and AAAAAH sound about the same in English and Chinese. Notice the abundance of cell phone cameras.

Vehicle traffic was banned in some places for a few hours and the 8 million people took to the streets to enjoy the fun. |
