Day 5
| May 18 is another warm day with temperatures in the low 80's. Brood X, as they call them, are alive and well. I have not been able to improve upon the close-ups already shown, but the clusters of shells and insects on the trees and shrubs are getting quite impressive in appearance. Today, I asked a group of high school students if they could describe the ever increasing sound of the insects, or compare the sound to something familiar. They suggested cars near the interstate or jet planes in the distance. When I asked if it sounded at all like a flying saucer, they all agreed that was exactly what the noise sounded like ...... | |
