March 29, 2006

Washington, DC is famous for the more than 3,700 cherry trees at various locations around the monuments. The Tidal basin itself has 1,405 Yoshino trees.

The blossoms were close to the peak bloom on March 29 when I visited the Tidal Basin near the Jefferson Memorial - and within sight of the Washington Monument and the Capitol Building. (Lots of photos have those photogenic monuments.)

If you can't come to visit in person, please enjoy the photos for 2006.

Always a great time to be a bride and groom.

Many families want to capture the children with the camera. These children were more cooperative than some. Not many take pictures on "film" anymore.

An old pagoda that came with the cherry trees early in the twentieth century.

Spring has sprung - but where are the bees? The temperature has been cool until today, so the blossoms are fresh and ripe!

There are some excellent artists who spend all day on one image.

Other artists, like myself, prefer to capture 5 images a minute!

National Park Service Rangers and many volunteers are available to guide and explain.
