Washington, DC is famous for the more than 3,700 cherry trees at various locations around the monuments. The Tidal basin itself has 1,405 Yoshino trees which reached the peak bloom beginning April 7, 2005. This is the latest peak bloom in at least 15 years. The earliest was March 15, 1990. See also what this area looked like on March 7, 2005 before the blossoms emerged. |
