Bob and Joyce in Australia - 2003 The beach at Cow Bay. We considered hiking up this stream until we read the sign below.
Bob and Joyce in Australia - 2003 OK.

We walked on the beach instead.

Bob and Joyce in Australia - 2003 This pattern in the sand reminds us of the beautiful aboriginal art. The patterns are little sand balls left by ghost crabs.
Bob and Joyce in Australia - 2003 The patterns of the rock sedimentation was awesome. It will take some further geology lessons to sort this out. These are many layers of ocean deposits. In addition, lava evidence of historic volcanic activity existed here.
Bob and Joyce in Australia - 2003 For water lovers like us, paradise is all in the watching and reflecting on the majesty in God's creation.
Bob and Joyce in Australia - 2003 Nearby is the Environmental Centre.
Bob and Joyce in Australia - 2003 It is situated in the rainforest with a boardwalk, audio tours, and 75 foot tower with multiple levels so the visitor can experience the multidimensional nature of the rainforest and the canopy that blocks most of the sunlight. We listened to real birds and recordings of other birds and animals, watch nature videos about feral pigs and dinosaurs and talked with naturalists and other tourists. Great place.
Bob and Joyce in Australia - 2003 This van with trailer took us about 50 miles (2 hours) north to our next stop in the Daintree Rainforest.
Bob and Joyce in Australia - 2003 The common area of this Youth Hostel and Resort.
Bob and Joyce in Australia - 2003 An interesting walk through the rainforest (in the rain, of course). It is very dim under the canopy of the rainforest. My light meter suggested a flash all the time.

We went on a night walk in the jungle with a colorful guide named Possum. He knew where the opossums, spiders, pigs, bandicoots, and sleeping birds lived as well as all kinds of trees, ferns, fungi, and much more. Very informative and interesting. And it did not rain!!

Bob and Joyce in Australia - 2003 Our bed with mosquito netting.
Bob and Joyce in Australia - 2003 This picture taken in mid-day.

The electric generator goes off at midnight. The darkness is profound - like a cave.

Bob and Joyce in Australia - 2003 Internet access right on location!
Bob and Joyce in Australia - 2003 A little diversion is available. Crocodylus Village is not the place to be if one needs a lot to do.

We found the place idyllic.

Bob and Joyce in Australia - 2003 We saw this frog  along the way
