Cow Bay

The Crocodylus Village van took us 2 miles down the road to the beach at Cow Bay. We considered hiking up this stream until we read the sign below. |

OK.
We walked on the beach instead. |

This pattern in the sand reminds us of the beautiful aboriginal art. |

Looking closer we could see little holes and occasionally a little sand ball popping up. |

This balls are sometimes alive. Notice the shape of the third ball from the top right. It is actually a fiddler crab with camera shyness. Great beach camo! |

The patterns of the rock sedimentation was awesome. It will take some further geology lessons to sort this out. These are many layers of ocean deposits. In addition, lava evidence of historic volcanic activity existed here. |

For water lovers like us, paradise is all in the watching and reflecting on the majesty in God's creation. |

Nearby is the Environmental Centre. |

It is situated in the rainforest with a boardwalk, audio tours, and 75 foot tower with multiple levels so the visitor can experience the multidimensional nature of the rainforest and the canopy that blocks most of the sunlight. We listened to real birds and recordings of other birds and animals, watch nature videos about feral pigs and dinosaurs and talked with naturalists and other tourists. Great place. |
